Sep. 12-14 Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year start sundown on 9/12)
September 13  Ramadan begins (Islamic period of fasting from sunrise to sunset;   see 10/13 below)
Sep. 21-22  Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement; full fasting; starts sundown on 9/21)
October 13 Eid al-Fitr (the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting; Islamic)
