The Office for Institutional Diversity serves a leading role in promoting an institutional culture that values and supports diversity. We recognize the important role diversity plays in the educational process and seek to instill appreciation for diversity in each member of the university community.

    This office supports rational resolution of diversity conflicts, tracks the university's long-term diversity goals, and coordinates efforts with the following offices to assist the university's student body and the community:

Minority Student Services
    Minority Student Services ensures the success of all students by assisting them in acclimating to the cultural and racial diversity at Central Michigan University.

Multicultural Education Center
    The Multicultural Education Center seeks to enhance the university community's awareness of the richness and variety of cultures.

Native American Programs
    The Native American Programs office supports Native American students enrolled at Central Michigan University and seeks to share the rich cultural, social and artistic traditions of Native American culture with the greater campus community.

Office of Gay and Lesbian Programs
    The Office of Gay and Lesbian Programs coordinates programs that raise awareness about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender concerns.

Upward Bound
    Upward Bound is a pre-college program funded through the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to help economically disadvantaged and first generation college-bound students complete high school and assist them in attaining their college goals.

KCP/GEAR UP
    The GEAR UP Program is targeting Flint's Holmes Middle School, Longfellow Middle School, McKinley Middle School, Northern High School to offer students the academic skills, information and encouragement they need to graduate and go on to college prepared to succeed.  GEAR UP is funded nationally by the U.S. Department of Education and locally by its project partners.  GEAR UP facilitates student tutoring and mentoring, offers workshops on college, preparation and financial aid, and assists schools and teachers to better prepare students for college studies.
